ABOUT

A vehicle for singer/songwriter Alex Kisch, Super Tuesday combines indie rock, alt-country, folk-pop and urban surf, drawing comparisons to Big Star, R.E.M., The Replacements, MJ Lenderman, Wilco and Twin Peaks.

Kisch gained notoriety in the 90s as a member of seminal Boston-based alt-rockers Dirt Merchants (Epic, Zero Hour). Dirt Merchants garnered critical success and spent years on the road with the likes of Bush, Fig Dish, Letters to Cleo and Pond, but commercial success eluded them.

While Kisch disappeared from the public eye, he kept quietly busy writing and recording in his home studio, eventually emerging as Super Tuesday in 2021 with the eclectic, if somewhat ragtag LP, Danger City. Just Right followed in 2022 and was described as “combing muscular jangle pop with a sense of alt.rock and ramshackle,” while 2024’s Future Tense was tagged “a grab bag of jangly folk rock and simmering Americana.

Through the Static, released in June 20, 2025, showcases Kisch’s growth as a songwriter, producer and performer. More compact and tight-knit than Future Tense, but without sacrificing any of the sonic exploration, the album feels “as if [Kisch] has traded the open road for a crooked back porch, and from there he’s telling stories that feel half-eavesdropped, half confessional. From propulsive guitar driven rock (“Natural Mystery”) to jangly psychedelics (“Through The Static,” “Soaking Up The Silence”) to Alt-Country twang (“Lucky Stars,” “Orphans,” “Your Time Will Come”) the album feels “like if R.E.M. took a detour through Nashville and brought Gram Parsons along for the ride.”
